Happy Halloween!

Because sometimes dressing in costume isn't appropriate there's still a way to harness the fun of halloween in the workplace! I opted for the black and orange color scheme! It's a chilly one in Indy today and this thick Anthropologie sweater really does the trick. Simply pairing it with some black staples and a fall hat make it the perfect, yet subtle halloween outfit!

That being said, you will see a costume post soon!

Pinspired

I was feeling really down about myself this morning, so what did I do...got up, put in some effort, and improved my mood! A cute outfit can do that for your spirit. It would definitely have been easier to throw on some leggings and my trusty Purdue sweatshirt and if I hadn't been feeling low this morning that would have been a perfectly fine thing to do. However, I needed a boost and with the magic of pinterest and a blow dryer I achieved it! I'm off to enjoy this beautiful day in Indiana!

Have a great Saturday

Quilt me pretty

With the chilly winds increasing I opted for a comfy quilted jacket from my most recent LeTote. I love this quilted look, especially paired with beaucoup zippers and leather accents. I like the navy color too and since the black leather accents are on it I can mix it with a black blouse. I had to break up the look with some camel boots, sometimes even a neutral can be a "pop" of color!

What's your favorite neutral look?

Living on the wild side...

Living life on the wild side with this gorgeous fur statement vest! I purchased this beaut a few years ago and have gotten so many compliments on it! Pieces like this are definitely not for all occasions, but when it's right it's sooo right.

What's your favorite statement piece?

Make it rain!

Alright, so of course I'd love for "make it rain" to mean that I'm rolling in the dough, but instead it's yet another rainy day in Indianapolis. Personally, I love rainy days and they are made much better by snuggling in pj's and binge watching a tv series on Netflix, but instead I got to watch the rain outside of the window at work. I was very tempted to throw on some leggings, a cozy sweater, and some boots, but I decided to push through that thought and dress up today. I love this midi skirt, it's like a big parachute! The skirt is yet another piece that I have only worn a few times, but I'm trying to fall back into love with some of my clothes since I'm on a budget crunch.

Do you have an item hanging in your closet that you put on and always change before leaving the house?

Tip for the day: Walk out the door and own it! If you regret it, donate or sell it.

Call me cat-woman

Alright, so maybe not a total skin tight cat woman look, but with a cape and pleather I felt it was a semi -accurate title. Capes are not only functional, but fashionable! I like the drama...pause for shock. I mean come on, who doesn't associate a cape with super heros? or models? I'm good with being mistaken for either!

I am currently obsessed with layering long necklaces, for an extra dramatic look. This long chain locket from fossil is super cute, but it was always a very simple look until I added the pewter chain necklace too.

I think that is my favorite part about fashion and fall, layering. You can take any item in your closet and transform it into so many different looks. It's so important to mix and match or you will become (more) crazy about purchasing new items. I try to remind myself that I have so many outfits still unexplored with all the items I currently own. Alright, alright, that does not keep me from the occasional and sometimes excessive shopping, but if def. helps!

What's your way of refreshing old items?

Style runs in the workplace..

Style is the name of the game at my job. The salon is chock full of little fashionistas, so for today, a little spotlight on our manager Erika! She was rocking too cute of an outfit to not make an appearance on the blog. I'm obsessing over her vintage style coat for fall. She found this gem at Profyle Boutique in Indianapolis, by the new Ruth's Chris. One cannot only own a fabulous coat if not to pair it with an equally fabulous outfit.

The fall is all about the boots and booties. I like Erika's use of tights to tie a spring or summer piece into a fall look. Fashion and practicality can be each other's best friends (and sometimes enemies). What is your favorite way to make a seasonal item perfect for all year round?

Happy Fall y'all, it's getting cold out there.

Change is in the air!

As you have probably noticed I have not only changed the name, but the whole look of the blog! A redesign was essential. When I began this blog, I kind of figured it wouldn't last and I'd move on, but I have come to find that it is something I truly love to do and no matter how many views I get I will continue to indulge in my two favorite things. Fashion and writing. Thank you all for viewing my blog, it is still and might always be a work in progress!

Thanks,

Abby

I recently overheard a stylist at work explain how to get beachy waves with a curling iron...I'm officially hooked! I love that since they are relaxed curls I can keep a longer look with the volume of a little curl. I'm sure we've all heard this style of curling, but the way she explained it made me think I could do it. I think I achieved success!

I am mixing up my previous outfit pieces in a different way for a more casual look. I like taking an outfit and using the inspiration to create a new look for different venue. Do you like to style swap?

Cabernet Blouse and Statement Jewelry

You have to love fall for it's layering capabilities! This adorable top from Le Tote is perfect for just that. I love the midi sleeve, it's such a chic departure from the cap sleeve and three-quarter. This outfit is undoubtedly cute and comfy, but it was missing something. That something almost always a good piece of jewelry! This lust worthy necklace is an amazing find at Adorn boutique in Broad Ripple. The kicker is that it was only $16! Nothing better than a stylish deal.
