Bowl me over

Quickie post, but I just love this outfit! The bowler hat is essential with my not freshly washed hair and curling iron mishap on my forehead! Gotta love using accessories to your benefit. How do you switch up your accessories?

Style with flare..

Sometimes a good dose of leather and a crop sweater will improve one's mood. I love this outfit, because it is actually comfortable and hits a real stylish tone! One of the absolute greatest things about fall is tights! I am not a huge fan of showing leg, but with tights it's in the bag. I can wear a chic skater skirt without the worry. What's your favorite fall item?

Le Tote est tres chic

I became intrigued by Le Tote while reading one of my favorite blogs, Sarah's Real Life. In her words, "it's like Netflix for clothes". She nailed it! You go through an array of cute styles and 'add to your closet' and then they send you 5 items from your closet. You can keep them for as long as you'd like or return them quickly to receive another tote. Also, you can purchase one or all items at a discounted price! I put a link to sign up and it gets me points :), so if you feel inclined to check it out, please use my link:

This blue dress is one of the amazing items I received and I'm fighting the urge to purchase it! So comfy and I love the pockets. The blue is so on trend and perfect for the upcoming season.

Ruffles for days...

I love this ivory petticoat clip I got from Forever 21. It is a great way to, quite literally, add some flare to an outfit! It also adds a bit of drama, which anyone who know me will attest to my love of drama. I also adore a monochromatic color palatte, because it opens up your mind to textures and details that color can often guide you to ignore. The slip is kind of difficult to pair, but I really like it with this crop top, so it doesn't cover up the ruffles, because..why cover up ruffles? You have to top...well I suppose bottom off any good outfit with a good pair of shoes. These adorable black booties are an essential for so many outfits and especially this one. The black elongates the leg while adding the slightest amount of heel, because post Purdue my heel height tolerance went waayyy down (literally).

How do you incorporate different textures into your style?

Breakfast at Tiffany's

Anyone who knows me will tell you that I am an old school film buff! One fantastic staple in fashion is the lbd (little black dress) and the second is Audrey Hepburn. No one can truly encompass her beauty and grace, but one can try to emulate her impeccable style. She is the queen of simplicity and the lbd. I love this dress from Nordstrom, because it is flattering, simple, and versatile. I also love long sleeves! I had to spice it up with a good statement piece of jewelry, naturally. Who's your fashion icon?

Free my soul

I'm very thankful to have a stylish mother raise me and let me play around with my style. This shirt is a free people shirt circa 2006! I have a select few items that still make their debut after all of these years. I  became accostomed to personal style very young and although I definitely had a "trendy" phase I mostly stuck to my guns and stepped out of the 'hollister' box and that gave me a lot of cool pieces I can still wear today (well the one's that still fit). What's your favorite old school item?

Layer me pretty

One of the most fun things about the changing of seasons is the overlap of pieces you can match up. Indiana is notorious for yo-yo weather and true to form this weekend was initially 90 degrees and the next day 72 degrees! My closet is overflowing with both my winter and summer clothes to mix and match. I err on the side of modesty, so when I wear anything short, revealing, low-cut, etc. I try to counteract it with coverage everywhere else. With that said, I love this outfit, because it is comfy and fits the changing weather. I'm trying to accept my body, which is hard no matter what size you are, but it's such a happier way to live!

Chambray chic...

Gotta love a good chambray shirt. It's the comfort of a cotton button up with the style and diversity of denim. I paired this top with my graduation dress. I snagged that beauty from yet again, American Eagle! I love mixing up a bunch of neutrals for a simple yet trendy look.

Call me cargo...

This cargo vest is one of those great finds amongst the atrocities of the most recent sale. One must have a lot of perseverance to keep searching through the bad to find the good and rarely I can muster up said strength. I often find items at American Eagle that don' often scream 'I'm a trendy 15 year old!' and people are always shocked to hear the items' whereabouts. Pairing this vest with a simple black dress and black statement sandals was a no brainer. What's your favorite cargo style?
