Will it ever be warm?

The forecast for this Saturday (my B-day) is a high of 38...come on mother nature throw me a bone! The pics for today's look may look like it's getting warmer in Indy, but it's a crock! The temps are hovering in the 30's and I'm over it. In honor of my b-day I request a rise in temperature of 25 degrees. We'll see if I'm being heard on this request, but it should be a fun weekend nonetheless!

Have a great Thursday!

Throwback Thursday!

Today's post is a little bit different. I'm throwing it way back to when I was featured on College Fashionista for this layered look back in my senior year of college (aww good times). I loved this outfit, because it was super chic and extremely warm, which obviously was necessary. It was almost exactly 3 years ago that this picture was taken by fashion guru Irene Wang. I realized that I have worn all these items many times since and they've shown up on the blog often! I get asked all the time how I can afford all these clothes. My answer is always that most of them are super old! I try and re-purpose some of my favorite items and keep them trendy in new and fun ways, because my clothes budget is truly abysmal.

How do you 'recycle' outfits?

Farm girl chic

I wouldn't refer to myself as a farm girl, simply because I do not have that work ethic, and I don't like to get dirty. I have mad respect for girls that can claim that title, so to channel their spirits, I tried to emulate a farm gal in today's look. Granted, I probably couldn't achieve any status as a farm hand, but it's super cute, so from a blogger's POV, I'm happy. I love this ruffle slip from Forever 21, it's so versatile and completely changes a look! Paired with my trusty Frye cowbow boots, a plaid button up, and you can't forget a jean jacket this look fits the bill, buffalo bill that is ;) Have a great Wednesday everyone!

Clearing the rack...

In an attempt to clear the rack or rather clear my bank account, I traveled to Nordstrom Rack to be irresponsible and buy a plethora of new pieces for the new year. Unfortunately, I was sorely out of luck this trip, but I did find this plaid top, which I love. This baby was originally $38 and I got it for $5!! That's a steal! I love this style of plaid and I'm always a sucker for a long line top. I was unable to get a good picture of the back, but it is longer in the back and has a cute button detail. Hope your new year is off to a great start!

Let's hibernate

Yup, it's official. I'm calling it quits for the season. I've packed up months worth of delicious food and I'm set to go till Spring.
I'm sure you've gathered thus far that I am not a cold weather person. It must be that Florida born factor. Well, with that said, here's my fur vest. yet again. I love this piece to add style and warmth! I paired it with this season's biggest pattern craze, plaid! I'm obsessing over all of the amazing plaid blanket scaves, but due to my current budget status I'll have to stick with the items I already own. It's easy to replicate trends without breaking the bank!
This look is super simple and comfortable, but has an element of drama!

Stay warm out there!

Pink gams

Is she ill? Nope, she's just wearing pink tights...

I love fun tights, it's something I truly hope to invest in and build my repertoire! Color tights are kind of difficult to style, but it's worth the effort! It really adds to the outfit and is a fun way to stay warm in the dropping temps. I paired this with a simple black dress, but true to form I brought the color back up top with a fun pink plaid square scarf. Square scarves (in my opinion) make the best shape when classically wrapped around your neck. Panel scarves are great for different fun styles, but the square scarf is a trusty old friend that never does you wrong! I love this look, because it is super comfortable, but not drab.

How do you add some flare to your look?

They've gone to Plaid!

If you picked up on my Spaceballs reference, I applaud you! If you follow me on instagram @peckonthechic then you saw me post an adorable outfit from Old Navy's instagram. I found inspiration from that post and came around to this ensemble.

I love the dark shades of blue and plaid is of course an excellent pattern for fall. With the chill in the air you will most likely see me wearing tights for the next 6 months. I love tights and hope to invest in cuter patterns soon. Of course, I will keep posted.

What's your favorite cold weather accessory?
