White petals and rose accents

I got to spend some quality time with my mom yesterday at our two favorite places...On the Border and the mall! Well, actually we opted to be near the mall at Barnes and Noble, because we realized we'd lose our freaking minds at the mall this time of year. I am closing in on all my Christmas gifts for everyone, which is a real improvement since the Check incident of 2013. I love giving gifts and I find myself getting so excited when I come up with a great idea for someone! I like to get gifts that are part practical and part sentimental. The truly 'gifted' (hah) gift giver in our family is my brother. He has an unmatched talent for finding these obscure, yet perfect gifts for all different types of people. It's really quite annoying. Haha.

What's your gifting style?

Simple comfort

Here's a super simple look that I wore for Thanksgiving. I love this vest because it adds the perfect amount of warmth and style, plus pairing it with a hot pink sweater adds a great pop of color!

I had to wear my Hue jeggings, because after all I am eating a lot on Thanksgiving, so these are essentially my fat pants. Lastly a light Vera Bradley scarf too add a bit of pattern.

Hope you all had an amazing Thanksgiving holiday!

Pink gams

Is she ill? Nope, she's just wearing pink tights...

I love fun tights, it's something I truly hope to invest in and build my repertoire! Color tights are kind of difficult to style, but it's worth the effort! It really adds to the outfit and is a fun way to stay warm in the dropping temps. I paired this with a simple black dress, but true to form I brought the color back up top with a fun pink plaid square scarf. Square scarves (in my opinion) make the best shape when classically wrapped around your neck. Panel scarves are great for different fun styles, but the square scarf is a trusty old friend that never does you wrong! I love this look, because it is super comfortable, but not drab.

How do you add some flare to your look?

Make it rain!

Alright, so of course I'd love for "make it rain" to mean that I'm rolling in the dough, but instead it's yet another rainy day in Indianapolis. Personally, I love rainy days and they are made much better by snuggling in pj's and binge watching a tv series on Netflix, but instead I got to watch the rain outside of the window at work. I was very tempted to throw on some leggings, a cozy sweater, and some boots, but I decided to push through that thought and dress up today. I love this midi skirt, it's like a big parachute! The skirt is yet another piece that I have only worn a few times, but I'm trying to fall back into love with some of my clothes since I'm on a budget crunch.

Do you have an item hanging in your closet that you put on and always change before leaving the house?

Tip for the day: Walk out the door and own it! If you regret it, donate or sell it.

Rain, Rain, come today!

So, I have a bit of an obsession with my pink Hunter boots (thanks Shana!). Per usual the weatherman seems to have misread the radar. I was under the impression it would not only rain, but storm, thus inspiring my boots. Due to this mishap I look a bit like a fool romping around in my rain boots, but whatever!

My simple, but comfy outfit today is just right for a rainy day...or an almost rainy day.

Off to wing night at Average Joes...

Double Take

As you saw in yesterday's post it has been rainy in Indy! Well, today lucky for my Hunter's and not so lucky for my hair, it is raining yet again. I did a spin/similar take on the outfit yesterday. I wanted to show how a staple piece can be styled two similar, but different ways.

I hope to have a segment all about staple pieces and how versatile they can be! What are your favorite staple pieces? My outfit today represents two of my favorites, the trench-coat and rain-boots.

On Wednesdays we wear pink...rainboots!

Inspired by the rainy day and Mean Girls I decided to bring the pink Hunters out! I love these boots, they are great to have on a rainy day and still stay stylish. Women really have a knack for combining style with utility! Rain boots aren't particularly the cutest, but it beats the hell out of a layer of water on your jeans or water stains on your suede boots!

This striped top was a sale pick from the rare and small sale stack at Nordstrom's! I love the baby doll style and the collar necklace really adds some drama.

What's your favorite way to jazz up your rain boots? Leave a comment or pic! I'd love to hear some ideas. Also, check out tomorrow's post for a completely different look with the same boots!
