Will it ever be warm?

The forecast for this Saturday (my B-day) is a high of 38...come on mother nature throw me a bone! The pics for today's look may look like it's getting warmer in Indy, but it's a crock! The temps are hovering in the 30's and I'm over it. In honor of my b-day I request a rise in temperature of 25 degrees. We'll see if I'm being heard on this request, but it should be a fun weekend nonetheless!

Have a great Thursday!

Stripes and fur and florals Oh My!

I went to the Toggery to pick up my $$ from selling a few items and alas I ended up spending more than I made. I found this exceptional fur vest, yes another one! This black beauty (pun?) was only $8!!! That my friends is the advantage to shopping resale! Paired with my $12 pair of Loft dress pants, I think I made out like a bandit. I wanted to pair the fur with lots of fun textures and prints, hence the floral and stripes. I like the simplicity of this look and that it still packs a punch in the style department!

Rainbow and stripes

Keeping with the theme of..."It's cold in Indy!" I'm rocking some layers and a generally monochromatic look with a pop of color. I found this amazing tutorial from an epic DIY blog; Brittany Makes (click link for tutorial). She takes old pajama pants and made this great infinity scarf! It's super simple and all you need is a sewing machine, old pair of pj's (I got mine from Goodwill), and this tutorial. I wanted to add some color to this outfit with the scarf, but I also love that the check/plaid print mixes with the horizontal stripes on the shirt. My theory on simple style is that you can always add just a little something to make an outfit go from drab to fab!

What's your formula for perfect simple style?

Florals running wild

Today's look is a great mix of patterns with this artistic style floral and the ever prevailing neutral print..leopard! I love this sweater! It was my most recent Le Tote item and I am having trouble sending it back, but tis life! When I saw this sweater I had a ton of different ways to style it pop in my head. I loved pairing it with this bold leopard print. With all of these bold patterns it's surprising how neutral this look is, which makes it super easy to wear for most occasions. Well, I'm off to my office Christmas party! Little hint...my outfit has reindeer on it. As I leave you with that thought, check out my blog this week to see that look!

Whoa..stripes!

My co-worker walked in and saw my outfit and just said, "whoa. Stripes! It's just a lot of...stripes" Haha. This did not offend me, as no statement on my style should, since after all it's MY style. I love this look! I was all ready to go with a green dress and this jacket and then this striped dress caught my eye. As if I'd been hit with a lightening strike of inspiration I quickly disrobed and made the epic change.

Alright, alright, so maybe not epic, but it's fun and a little different, which was exactly what I was going for. Sometimes it's fun to wear something and have people go "huh?" because they wouldn't put it together, but in a weird way it works?

Do you layer similar patterns?
