Date Night/Blog-versary

One year ago today...I embarked on this blogging journey and haven't looked back since! It has been so amazing to receive so much love from friends, family, and wonderful strangers! I now have a growing fashion blog, an Indy Style Blogger group, and a community of fellow bloggers to emulate. Thank you to everyone for your support and for stopping by my little adventure!

Anywho, date night...
Aaron and I attempt to have one wonderful night devoted to each other; because work, family, friends, and random stresses take precedence during the week. Friday night we went out to Drakes and enjoyed some delicious fare paired with even more delicious beer! Afterwards, we headed to Cooper's Hawk to pick up our monthly wine and of course partake in their super fun and yummy wine tastings. It's so nice when we get to spend quality time together and indulge in both unhealthy and non-budget friendly activities. We try to stay healthy and on budget 5-6 days a week, so it's important to us to allow ourselves some fun!

My look for the evening was this freaking adorable top I snagged at Nordstrom, in their Savvy department. It is slightly cropped, so I figured these high waisted jeans would be a great pairing. I don't usually wear heels, but if not on date night, when? I love these bootie/sandal/pumps from Shoedazzle! I put links to super cute similar options below. Topping off any look with a clutch is perfect for a chic night out on the town!

What's your date night like?

Chambray vs. Tensel

My mom and I recently went shopping and I found this adorable chambray top, but to my surprise, it isn't chambray at all!! My wonderful seamstress mother schooled me on fabric by guessing that this shirt is actually Tensel...never heard of it? Neither had I. Apparently it's a different kind of "jean" textured fabric. It's heavier and softer at the same time. I figured as a fashion blogger it was my duty to enlighten you all with this new found knowledge! Anywho, this shirt is amazing and on point with this years trends. I loved pairing it with this paisley handkerchief style scarf and white dress skirt. This look was perfect for a beautiful day and inspired me to get out and be seen...well at the grocery store, but what can you do?

Double Take: Culottes

If you read yesterday's post, you might have said to yourself "Yeah, I like the culotte trend, but how do I wear that for a normal day?" I myself wondered this and threw together a double take outfit for a casual look. Double take is taking one item and using it for a completely different look! You probably do this all the time without even trying. That adorable skirt you wear to the bar with a silky form fitting top makes its way to brunch paired with a loose fitting tee and some sneakers, you just did a double take! I bet you got a few double takes for your style too ;) Anyway, I digress, this culotte look was my way of making culottes super casual and perfect for a day of running errands and enjoying the day comfortably. Hope you like it!

Culottes? I think yes!

Lilac, lavender, light ass purple...whatever you want to call it, this is my new favorite color for Spring. I found this beautiful top at Von Maur on sale and I was instantly sold! I also found these amazing culottes for just $19!! The two pieces together pair perfectly and make for a great look for a night out on the town. I had to throw on a statement piece, since the two items are pretty neutral and with that 'top off' the outfit was set. This pastel trend is making my heart melt and my spirits rise up to the trend-casion. Stay posted, because a pastel pink will eventually make it to the blog too!

p.s. remember that amazing clutch I got in a recent Le Tote?? My amazing bf noticed my extreme sadness to send it back and ended up finding it and giving it to me for my birthday!

Work Wear Wednesday: Highlighter Yellow

Yay for Wednesdays! I get a recharge on Wednesdays knowing that it's the middle of the week and there's only fun ahead. I'm having a blast coming up with some unique and fun looks for the Work Wear Wednesday and this beautiful weather doesn't hurt. I love this look for a couple different reasons. I love the funky color and pattern of the skirt, the pairing of yellow and the peach in the necklace, and lastly the style of sleeve on this shirt. This almost cap sleeve is trending right now and I just love it! It's very reminiscent of 70's style, which is just fine with me, because I love that era. I'd venture say that seventie's fashion is probably the most dominant era of inspiration for this years trends. What do you think?
