Dots and Bows. Everything Goes!

This is one of my favorite combos! I love this polka dot shirt. It was a bit of a splurge, so naturally I asked for it for Christmas a few years ago. I noticed the orange sweater while at Anthropologie and had a light go on in my head! Turns out, they go perfectly together. I love when items "go" not "match". One of the many great lessons Stacy and Clinton taught us in What Not to Wear!

Since there is so much going on with the colors and patters up top, I opted for a simple black skirt and tights. I like to balance my patterns and colors as to not look cray!

What's your favorite color combo?

Simply Safari

"Is that yet another fur vest she owns?" you wonder. Yes indeed, I figure in Indiana it's not the worst
idea to have a couple faux fur items laying around. Although, if they're laying around I actually freak out when I step on them, thinking it's Penny! So instead it's nice to have some faux fur "hanging" around!

I like this one, because it's shorter, thus not quite as much of a statement piece as the other vest. That being said, the print is more fun and can work well with a neutral outfit like today's or mixing it with other prints!

How do you rock the animal print?

Ready, Set, Holiday!

Since the holidays are upon us I have decided to post a holiday party look each week. The great thing about a holiday party is it's typically the one time your co-workers get to see you all dolled up, add some spiked egg-nog and you are golden. Here is one look for a holiday party. I paired an LBD with leather paneling along with a gold flake cropped cardigan. When dressing for a party it's always great to have a focused piece, with this outfit it is the gold jacket. The great thing about gold and silver is that it screams holiday without being cheezy!

I love black and gold, really you can't go wrong with neutrals, but I think at a holiday party you have some leway to use pops of color! In this look I used my pink pumps to amp up the look and add some fun color!

What are you going to wear for your holiday party?

Buns and Ruffles

Today's look is perfect for this cold weather with an oversized patterned cardigan, warm leggings, and shearling filled boots! This cardigan has been through a lot! It's one of my go-to's and has been for quite some time. This year it even required a little love from my mom's Pfaff! Every now and then you come across a piece that really sticks with you, although you never know until you bring it home. I've owned many items I thought I would revere for a long time and have since forgotten. Yet, on the flipside I've bought things on a total whim and they've been my favorites ever since.

I paired this beaut with the most amazing little booties! I got these babies for free (yes, free) from being in the Purdue Fashion Show. The designer gave us a pair of shoes to go with her amazing designs. I love these booties so much, because they seem to stay perfectly in style. They are so cute that I decided to go ahead and throw on some ruffle socks, because why the hell not?! In the end this outfit was perfect to counteract my last day without a shampoo *hence the top knot* and really set the tone for a perfect winter day.

What's your soul-mate fashion piece?

Plaid + Shearling = Love

I am trying my best to embrace this ridiculous weather, so I must focus on the fun fashion pieces I can bring out only when it's frigid to your bones cold. My favorite item that is cold-centric is my Free People plaid and shearling coat. It's not an everyday coat, but it is so warm and a real statement piece!

In the winter it is so important to invest in not only quality coats, but stylish ones! This item will be encasing any cute item you wear and you can lose all your style in a frumpy coat. Might as well take this as an opportunity to add a little more fun and style to your look. We've got 6 months people!
